Todd, this is one of those things you will just have to figure out for yourself while you are busy with the shoot. Switch the light on, decide on an aperture / ISO / shutter speed combination … and then using your camera’s built-in meter and checking the camera’s preview, adjust to taste. And adjust the light-to-subject distance.

I am using a frezzi micro fill 35 watt video light. How far away should I hold it from the subject?

I enjoyed the Dallas workshop. Even though I had read your excellent book, it was nice to have a hands-on confirmation of my understanding of your methods. It was a nice combination of classroom time and practical shooting to anchor the topics/techniques covered. Your more systematic approach to the shot (than mine) will yield better images more consistently for me.

Mohanpreet … I adjusted the WB to taste as part of my usual RAW workflow.

But everything there was lit by incandescent light, whether the video lights we were holding up, or the sconce lighting.

That image is a stunner. I just ordered a couple of video lights the other day based on what I had seen in a few other posts.

Any idea when you will put out a 2010 workshop schedule? Because I am in serious need of a roadtrip ;-)
