lots of Quantum flash gear for sale

April 18, 2013

I want to sell all my Quantum flash gear that I’ve accumulated over the past 10 years. They were very reliable and worked well for me. But I want to upgrade further to a Profoto system for on-location lighting. So these have to go.

Before I put these up on the FM forums and eBay, I thought I’d see if anyone who follows the Tangents blog might be interested in first dibs on some gear.

One of the main advantages of the Quantum over speedlights, is that they are very durable, and don’t over-heat and melt like speedlights do. Pretty much all speedlights do if you fire them rapidly or for long periods. The Quantums on the other hand, are work-horses. They just keep going.

All the equipment works. They show wear and tear from normal use, but I didn’t abuse these.

To make it easier for myself, I am selling to lower 48 states in the USA only.
I can take Paypal, or I can take credit card payments over the phone.

The large kit shown here at the top, is for local pick-up only. It’s heavy and shipping charges would be crazy.

All other prices include shipping.
The larger items will ship via UPS ground.
Smaller items will be stuffed into a padded envelope, via USPS.

drop me an email if you’re interested in any of these items.

There is some flexibility in the pricing, but let’s stay reasonable, ya know?

Quantum kit of two T2 flashguns + extras, in a roller bag – $1,250

This was my main setup that I traveled with and shot many many weddings with.

The two Quantums are on the tall Red-Wing stands.  (I think they are 11′ tall?). These light-stands automatically collapse when you lift them up. Just like the Cheetah stands do now. But these are much taller and sturdier.

To avoid having to hail these up and down the light-stand to adjust the power, I added the Q-flash Remote Flash Head with 8′ Extention Cable (B&H). (These cables sell for $178 each at B&H)

In the close-up shots you will see the brackets that hold the body of the Q-flash to the stand, as well as the Quantum Pole Mounting Clamp for battery packs (B&H). These battery clamps sell for $38 each at B&H.  (The clamps are that holds the Q-flash to the light-stand were part of the extension cable kit.)

The Tenba 48″ Roller Case (B&H) that all this fits into, normally sells for $330 at B&H

Also included are two Quantum Turbo 2×2 battery packs (B&H), with a charger each. These aren’t available from B&H anymore, but I think they sold for $350 – $400 each?  These two still hold their charge very well.

There are also the two umbrella clamps included to enable the Q-flashes’ heads to swivel.

Also included are the cables for PocketWizards to fire these.

There is also a bag with spares and back-ups: two Q-flash lightbulbs and a variety of cables. This is in a zip-up bag.

Finally, i am throwing in a zip-lock bag of all odds & ends and spare bits and pieces I accumulated. Some of it might be useful.

Local pick-up only for this set!

Have a look at the close-up shots for details:

This shows a little bit of the extension. You can easily reach 11′ or so with these flashes set up like this.

Finally, the ziplock bag of odds & ends, and random loose pieces.

Other Quantum gear:

Quantum FW9T – $100

Quantum FW9T FreeXwire Digital Transmitter (B&H = $185)

Wireless QTTL Adapter D12wR – $50

In order to trigger the Wireless Transmitter, you need this adapter on your camera :
- for Nikon & Fuji  : D-12w-R  (B&H = $142)  - this is an older model than the D22wR

Quantum Turbo AC  (2x) – $175 each

Turbo AC   (B&H = $266)
Even though the Q-flashes are battery driven – which is exactly what makes the Quantum flash system so flexible - there are times when it makes more sense to run the Q-flashes off AC.

Quantum SC battery & charger (2x) – $200 each

Quantum Turbo SC battery pack  -  B&H = $350
SC =  slim and compact – yet offers great capacity.

Quantum power cables for speedlights – $20 each

3x Nikon cables – CKE cable – $20 each
2x Canon cables – CZ cable – $20 each

speedring for softbox to Quantum – $30

$30

SOLD – Quantum T5D-R – $450  (B&H = $700) – SOLD

This unit is in excellent condition still. It sells for $700 at B&H

I’ll add this spacer with the T5D-R

SOLD  -  Quantum FreeWire FW7Q – $80  -  SOLD

Quantum FW7Q FreeXwire Wireless Digital TTL Receiver  (B&H = $155)
The FW7Q is especially well-designed in how it snugly fits onto the T5D-R and is powered via the Q-flash itself.

SOLD – Quantum T2 flash – $200 – SOLD

This unit is still in very good shape, and hardly saw any use since it was my back-up.

SOLD – Quantum 12″ x 12″ softbox  -  $40  -  SOLD

Quantum Softbox 12?x12?  (B&H = $75)
Although I prefer working with larger softboxes, this small Quantum softbox is easy to set up and very portable.  And even though it is small, it does immediately offer a larger area than the Q-flash’s usual diffuser disc.

SOLD  -  Wireless QTTL Adapter D22wR – $50  -  SOLD

In order to trigger the Wireless Transmitter, you need this adapter on your camera :
- for Nikon & Fuji  : D22wR  (B&H = $142)

These two units also still hold their charge very well.
