How to achieve similar effect

Hello! Maybe someonw could help me with photoshop or Lightroom.

I have one photo that I'd like to achieve similar effect as in this Metallica photos. Does anyone have idea how it is named? Or how to do it?

Sasko,

In Photoshop, convert your image to a BW by your method (I use a special action to do that as I can control Shadows, Midtones, Highlights, Skin and Sky with it), then I simply used a Levels Layer and dragged the Black/Midtone/Highlight sliders to get the effect I wanted.

Very easily adjusted to whatever density you want.

Here is a before shot, then my conversion with Layers, (you just do it your way) then simply a Levels Layer adjust, note the blue arrow showing what I did and the settings.

Edit: Click on the adjustment image to expand it for a full view, it's bigger than in the actual post.

Note: Here is the BW conversion before the Levels Layer, but I really cranked in the blacks also and highlights which helped prepare the image before the Levels Adjustment.

Yes, it's my action which I developed over the years.

Best conversion method is a 'Solid Color' Adjustment on top, change the Blend Mode to 'Color' and it converts precisely each and every pixel gradient from Highlights to Shadows, no ugly 'greyscale' conversion, no BW Adjustment Layer from Adobe, just a pure conversion.
