Product Description

The tilthead with spigot features a standard spigot mount and will fit onto any support device with a traditional spigot fitment. The tilt mechanism features a ratchet style pivot which eliminates any sudden movement when the locking screw is released. The umbrella socket also provides the option to use it with a reflective or shoot through umbrella.

    If you have a 15-inch Exybox, as I do, you're probably planning to travel with it. I measure the difference between this tilthead and the Manfrotto as 10 ounces--5 versus 15. It's smaller, too; hence more packable. Yes, it's annoying to pay this kind of money for a single-purpose tilthead, and yes, every Lastolite Ezybox should come with a tilthead like the knockoffs do--but now that you've spent the money on a great little softbox, go ahead and buy this, too. Once the pain has subsided, you won't regret it. Very well made, light and compact. Sits on a Manfrotto Nanostand very well. OK, technically it's dual-purpose, since you can use it to hold an umbrella. So there's another reason to bite the bullet.

    I currently own 5 of these items. I bought 3, 5 years ago, and have now bought an additional 2 from Amazon. This tilt head is very strong as it's made out of cast aluminum. I use them to hold Alien Bees and other monolights. If you need to point a moonlight at a 45, or 90 degree angle, or anything in between, this is one of the very few devices that will let you do that. The wheel that controls the angle of the spigot has click stops. It's not a free wheeling device. So, you need to use some force to actually turn it. This is good, because it makes it hard to accidentally unwind it. Since I use it to hold monolights, this is a very good thing. After 5 years, I have yet to have any of them fail on me in any way and I tend to beat up on my photo gear as I travel a lot to shoot photos. It's well worth the price.

    I got this item today to use with the Lastolite Ezybox Hotshoe. It feels solid and well made but after a brief trial the spigot that you mount the softbox onto became loose which meant the softbox rotated easily to wherever gravity wanted it to go to. There is no way that I could see to tighten or replace the spigot so back it goes. Shame.
