decent softbox, but doesn't work well with my wireless flash triggers.
This is an ok softbox, albeit pricey. My major problem with it relates to the wireless trigger I use (Phottix). When mounted on the flash unit (Canon 430 EXII) the flash does not align well with the opening in the rapid box - it sits too high and can't get close enough to the opening. (See photos). I contacted Westcott and they suggested "Mounting your trigger and flash backward on the cold shoe and rotating the flash head 180 degrees to enter the opening is one solution" but unfortunately my flash can't do this.
Compact , lightweight modifier for location shoots. Vary pleasing light quality with vary little fuss. The deflector plate is a must to fully utilize the Rapid Box's potential! Reasonable price once you have used it and see the results.
I wanted to love this, I ended up liking it... I know it's on the smaller side, so I knew the potential was there for harsher light...which is what I got. The diffuser panel doesn't seem to do much, it doesn't have much a different effect on portraits as bare flash, IMO. I've had various umbrellas and softboxes (larger) and opted for this due to it's quick set up and easier to transport on it's own, size, mostly for couple or solo portraits. What I found is it's not so easy to set up, then take apart during the middle of a shoot - when I need to be fast. It is sturdy and designed well - just not completely functional, the way I would prefer. I didn't really love the quality of light it was producing - a lot of people talk about the beauty dish and I never bought that, maybe I should have but it was one more thing to set up and transport. I ended up getting a 24" hexagon shaped soft box and the light is so much better and better setup!
I bought this instead of a traditional soft box because of the way it folds down and the way the hotshoe flash mounts more securely than most of the soft boxes I have seen. My plan was to use it for outdoor senior portrait shoots rather than an umbrella or a soft box. Not really impressed with the results at all, especially for the price, as not enough light seems to hit my subject, but then again, perhaps I'm expecting too much from 20" of light.

Really great considering getting another one for my other flash gun. It saves taking out large studio flash mono blocks for out side photo shoots. Note this is quite small so does need to be handled with care to get lighting correct, but it is easy to fit up. As per other reviews they should include the reflector as I use it all the time
I do like this softbox; although its a bit expensive it packs away and sets up very quickly. But i have one gripe. I have a Yongnuo YN622N trigger and for some inexplicable reason the bracket clamp socket seems to disable or short circuit the trigger so it won’t work with it. I have another very cheap trigger but i wanted to use this one as its much better. And the seller doesn’t have an easy to get contact email address so I have not been able to get an answer to this problem. Update: Today Amazon kindly part refunded me as compensation and i have now got a different bracket for the hotshot. now it works perfectly with my Yongnuo trigger. Great item now its all fully working - but Westcott ought to take note of my 'gripe' nevertheless.
This is a very well made collapsible softbox and beauty dish. Very simple to put together too. I did a photo shoot in a confined space and this worked superbly. I had to buy the metal attachment that makes it a beauty dish and feel it's a bit expensive and should be included. Other that that, a great product.
