adding TTL flash to ambient light<\/h1>\n<p>One of the ideas that has been\u00a0mentioned here\u00a0previously, is\u00a0when using\u00a0on-camera flash indoors, to approach it with a studio mind-set where possible.\u00a0\u00a0Instead of bouncing flash upwards towards the ceiling, or even simply behind you, the idea is to think &#8220;where would I have placed my softbox if this were a studio?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Then it is simply a matter of pointing\u00a0the on-camera flash in that direction, and flagging any spill light from the flashgun.\u00a0\u00a0I most often use <a href=\"https:\/\/neilvn.com\/tangents\/my-choice-of-flash-modifiers\/\">a piece of black foam to flag<\/a> my on-camera speedlight.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/neilvn.com\/tangents\/images\/flash\/Monica-Tim-2136.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The image at the top is from the bride &amp; groom&#8217;s portrait session in a museum. \u00a0And this is what <strong>the ambient light<\/strong> looked at those settings:<br \/>\n(which were 1\/125 @ f3.5 @ 1000 ISO for all three these images)<\/p>\n<p>The difference is due to bouncing on-camera flash to my right and 45&#8242;
