Two fantastic entries to the recent Photoshop contest came from Marcia Gold, who runs a post-processing and retouching service. She said she entered just for fun, and didn’t want to be eligible for the prize. I am taking the liberty of showing her two images here anyway, since they are outstanding takes of the original image …
I know you wanted it to look like he was coming from an unseen area…ergo the two versions: one in the sky alone which is inexplicable and mysterious; and one with a few silly cloud brushes thrown on top so it looks like he’s come from somewhere earthly. Hope you get a kick out of these.
Marcia Gold
The steps used involved three layers in Photoshop:
- Sky background
- Carefully masked cutout of climbing gypsy + his shadow masked at 30%
- The wall transformed in size and perspective + masked to blend with sky

I like the top one! Reminds me of Jack and the Beanstalk. Cool!

Okay – I know I’m her husband, but I’m so darn proud of my extraordinarily talented wife. Your recognition completely made my day!

The top image is really spectacular – I love the way the sunburst was kept/enhanced – an extraordinary image.

I like both, but more the second one. Floating and moving…

I like the 1st one. Coming up out of the clouds makes it look more real if that is possible. The second one looks too processed to me. Still both are VERY great!
