What I learned from Neil

Hi Neil and all Forum members ,
I have been wanted to write a post like this for along time now.

I have taken lots of courses and read a lot of books over the years, and for the most part have been sorrily disappointed.

Last month I had a great opportunity to take the One-on-One Tutorial with Neil in NYC .
I wished I had taken it 5 Years ago.

I really wanted to give an honest appraisal why I think Neil is one of the best Photo Educators out there. " If not the best"

I have become a fan of Neil over the years because of a few factors........

1. He is a working Photographer........meaning that a most of his income comes from "Shooting"

2. He gives you the "Why" rather than the how " very important " most courses gloss over the Why.

3. Explains "All" the factors in to making an image " Lots of Ah-Ha" moments here.....

4. His Message is consistent.

I watched a video once on how to do inexpensive off camera flash.

In the Intro video the host claimed that You didn't have to buy pocket wizards because the radio triggers from from China were just as good and a third the price.

Then is the demonstration Video " He says , Im going to use pocket wizards for the rest of the video because they give consistent results"

inconsistent statement, drive me up the wall....

Regardless..........

I always judge the success of a workshop or Tutorial Book etc... by one factor.

" Are the images Im producing better than before I took the Course or watched the Tutorial "

The answer I got back was normally " Not Really "

This past weekend was the first Wedding I shot after taking the One-on-One Tutorial with Neil. I really wanted to see how much I would improve.

Man, When I saw the Images on my computer when I got home at 2am even I was impressed.

My wedding Pics have never looked so good.... Like, Im taking right out of the camera !!!!!!

And.......Correcting the images was a breeze !!!!!!

Iv'e included some of my favourites images for everyone to look at.

I know I still have a long way to go... But I really feel like I have the building Blocks now to move forward.

Thanks Neil
