Photo usage

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to get your thoughts on photo usage relating to my situation.

I recently photographed a good friend of mine who is a fairly well known musician.

As he is an old friend I did the shots for free. A magazine contacted me wanting to use one of the images for an interview feature they are going to print.

Surely as I own copyright it's not unreasonable to request a fee for usage.??

When I mentioned a fee to the magazine representative it was met with a slightly hostile response, and basically they want free usage with a credit.

Just wondered if anyone else has been in this position?

Have a great week
