Hello!
I'm itching to get practising with off-camera flash. I've recently taken a portrait course using a combination of 1 and 2 flash gun set ups, combining with and without ambient light. This was using MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 PW's and Speedlite 580 EXII.
I am a Nikon user and currently have a D80, and will be getting a D90 shortly. I have one flash gun (Sigma EF-500 DG super).
Can anyone advise me on a set up (triggers, stands and flash) which will enable me to get started for under £500.
My wishlist includes the above PW's and 2 x SB900 but my budget does not stretch that far.
I want to put my recently aquired knowledge to test, but fear I will be waiting a very long time to get the above equipment.

There are plenty going around used, and that should help with the budget.
You do lose TTL control, but you will have reliable wireless triggering devices for off-camera flash.
- Phottox Strato Triggers (around $140 for 1 transmitter w/2 receivers at phottixstore.com)
- A pair of Neils' lightstands (http://neilvn.com/tangents/2010/06/25/review-manfrotto-lightstands/) ($160)
- Umbrella bracket and umbrella $50 (be sure to order a flas shoe if the bracket you get doesn't include one)
You're also going to need umbrellas or some way to soften the light.)
An umbrella clamp will also help tilt the flash and umbrella in the direction you need it to be.
sorry
