Sharpness and re-composition.

Neil and others,

First of all welcome everyone. This is my first post.
I would like to know how do you deal with the sharpness and re-composition.
For example, when you use one of the focus points and then re-recompose after focusing.
I noticed that a lot of my pictures with my 50mm Nikon 1.4 lens are not that sharp as I want and as I have seen on Neil blog. I shoot in raw and I use the lightroom for the post processing.
Attached are two images, one shoot at 320 f5 iso 200,other with f1.4.
I used one the top right focus point and set it on the eyes and then recomposed a little, but not that much.
As you can see those photos are not that sharp. Am I missing something or this is just the way how they will look on my d90 and 50mm-f1.4 lens?
