Okay so I went ahead and purchased the FoCal Pro version and dialed in a few of my lenses.
But, now I'm confused what to do with one of my lenses...I have the 70-200mm 2.8 VR (not the new VRII version).
I ran the test on a few focal lengths to see w…
Thanks all for your advice.
Did a lot of researching and found a ton of valuable info. Going to try importing into LR using Vivid for now to see what I get.
Thanks again
Dennis
Thanks for the reviews...I have the LensAlign system but I find it cumbersome. From the reviews I've read and your recommendations I think I'll be purchasing the Pro version soon.
Thanks again.

Get the YN622n-TX transmitter as well. This controls the other transmitters with an easy to use/see display.

From Neil's link above on Nikon D700 focusing modes...
There is one small gotcha with using Back-Button Focus – the Vibration Reduction (VR) function doesn’t kick in with the AF-ON button, but only when the shutter button is pressed. So you might …
I've always found using the Yongnuo's difficult by having to remember how to adjust the various settings without a display. I just purchased the new transmitter for this and can't wait to use it...

Trev....thanks
The subject wants us to photograph him while he's working out. He will probably be wearing a shirts and shorts. There are mirrors throughout the gym so I'm concerned about flash spots/reflections.
All great advice. I'm trying to break out of the diffuser habit so I've got to get myself comfortable bouncing instead of spraying. Just trying not to get caught up in fiddling with the settings and missing the shot.
I shoot M so that's not a prob…
Neil,
I get it...finally. You've explained it in such simple layman's terms.
How do you balance the flash/ambient in the same situation without a flash meter using manual flash?
Can it be done?
Thanks

The eagle finally landed...got my D700 yesterday.
Bought one SanDisk 32gig 800X CF card.
I have 35mm, 50mm, 85mm all in 1.8. Also, 70-200mm 2.8. Really love the detail this camera captures and looking forward to maximizing my lenses capabilitie…
LCD Brightness is fine and so is the Histogram from the camera. The histogram is skewed to the left (darker) upon import. I've read up on the why the histogram in the camera doesn't match the one that LR shows so I know that's an issue as well.

So....if your lens does not have DoF markings then the only way to get true hyper focal distance would be to focus manually on something the correct distance from the calculation. All my lenses do not have DoF markings and some don't have distance …
